In conclusion, it is worth underlining once again that for decades, the Middle East has been an extremely important and even crucial area of activity, engagement, investment and competition with other global powers for the United States – in the third decade of the twenty-first century, especially with China and Russia. The interests and objectives of US policy towards the Middle East, regardless of the administration in office, remain essentially unchanged. Successive US presidencies are more likely to be shaped by multidimensional and multi-level regional challenges, all of which the US is forced to respond to if it wants to remain an active and effective player in the region. Successive American administrations have been involved in various phases of transformation in the Middle East. The changes taking place in this part of the world are therefore part of the process of redefining the role of the US in the region.
