The volume is an outstanding example of interdisciplinary and intergenerational dialogue within legal studies and the broader legal humanities. It brings together contributions from students, doctoral researchers, and early-career academics affiliated with five prominent European universities: Warsaw, Poznan, Augsburg, Pisa, and Thessaloniki. Their collective aim – to revisit Roman legal traditions through the lens of contemporary tensions between law and political power – was realized with intellectual rigor and methodological diversity.
One of the publication’s most commendable features is the reversed hierarchy of the seminar it documents: young scholars led the sessions, presented original research, and moderated discussions, while senior academics offered guidance in the background. This model of academic cooperation fosters genuine intellectual development and promotes the agency of emerging voices in the legal academy.
